Each ring is seamlessly patterned and handcrafted from material that is created in-house. Making our own material gives us complete control over the design of the ring, as well as ensures its quality for you. In the finishing process of our TERRA Tri-colored Gold rings, the layer of red gold is acid etched to create a texture on the surface of the ring and accentuate the contrast between the white and yellow layers of gold. Unlike many makers who use copper or silver to create that "etch line", there is only 18K gold layers on this ring, and the inside of each one bears a quality stamp of 18K, signifying its purity. Like all STEVEN JACOB rings, TERRA bands have generously rounded edges, comfort fit interiors, and a lustrous matte finish.
STEVEN JACOB's co-founder, Steve Midgett, first started working with Mokume Gane in 1974, and has spent decades developing innovative techniques for the process. He has taught and lectured all over the world on his work and methods, and published two books on the subject. With his son Jacob, Steve continues to push the boundaries of what is possible for Mokume Gane, Damascus Steel, and other patterned metals.
