Wedding Ring Designer and Artist Steve Midgett

Since 1989 Steve has devoted all of his professional energy towards the exploration and mastery of the process of mokume gane.

" This technique continues to hold my fascination as I discover its' multiple applications and infinite design possibilities."

Currently Earthshine Mokume, Inc., Steve's jewelry studio, is producing a line of solid mokume wedding bands and engagement rings.  The focus is to create simply stated, yet elegant rings, that fully exploit the distinctive character of mokume gane.

Steve has authored two books "Mokume Gane in the Small Shop" and "Mokume Gane A Comprehensive Study"  and he teaches the mokume process to others at workshops throughout the world.

"I was greatly honored to be invited to Japan this spring to share my knowledge of mokume with the professors and students of theTokyo University of Fine Art and Music.  What a thrill it was to work with Japanese artists in their homeland, where the mystery of mokume began, hundreds of years ago."

  • 1998 selected by Jewelers Circular Keystone magazine as one of 7 international Rising Star designers
