In the Spring of 2002, Steve visited Tokyo University of Fine Art and Music.  Steve was invited to demonstrate new mokume techniques that he has been instrumental in developing. 

"It was a thrill to be invited by this prestigious university to teach western methods of a traditional Japanese art."  

Steve learned as much as he taught and was honored to receive such a warm welcome.

This photo shows him at a studio party, given in his honor, at Tokyo University with Art Department Chairman, Ryohei Miyata.  In the photo Miyata Sensei is learning to shoot a traditional Cherokee Indian blow gun, which Steve brought from the mountains of North Carolina as a gift.
